2015 kitchen trends
June 2, 2015
I work as a kitchen designer for almost 4 years so I can say I am a kitchen expert! I loved designing kitchens, making a functional but beautiful space, I liked inspiring my clients with my designs. I learned that when it comes to looks details are really important so here are my Top 5 Kitchen Trends:
Statement light fixtures: As I said, details, details! You can’t go wrong with an amazing statement piece, place to pendants on top of your island counter or a really important in the middle of your kitchen. If your kitchen has a lot going on try simple fixtures with a lucite material.
Metallics: Whether you go for copper or brass these two are making a big entrance in the kitchen world. I prefere these materials on a kitchen hood, this is a huge trend and I am loving it! Of course, who wouldn’t say no to a La Cornue copper range?
Subway Tiles: Subway tiles are always a great backsplash option, they give this transitional feeling but mirrored subway tiles are always a good option! I think they make such an interesting backsplash, they could go great at a home bar but this would be a bold decision for a kitchen, I would go for it.
Flooring: This is such an important complement for your kitchen, you need to take into consideration, the color of your kitchen and counter. First picture is a classic chess floor, personally one of my favourites! I think it will never go out of style and it matches almost with everything. Second picture, herringbone wooden floors, some people are afraid of putting wooden floors in the kitchen, now-a-days we have plenty of options, we have ceramic floor imitating wood.
Open Shelving: The most practical and cheap trend for you kitchen, open shelving is a practical way to store things and have them handy while cooking, and by avoiding upper cabinetry you can save some money.
